Young Professionals - Upcoming Events

Ports 2010 Conference
April 25-28, 2010

Ports 2010 will be held April 25-28, in Jacksonville, Florida. We look forward to your participation in the Young Professional (YP) activities that are planned for this conference!  Noteworthy events include:

• Young Professionals' Happy Hour
  5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., April 25 (Sunday)
• Job Fair
  1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., April 27 (Tuesday)

Please contact the PIANC USA Young Professionals Representative if you are planning to attend or if you know of any other Young Professionals (under age 40) attending the conference. PIANC membership is not a requirement for these activities. The more the merrier and better networking for us all! 

PIANC MMX Congress in Liverpool, United Kingdom
May 9-14, 2010

The PIANC Congress is being held in Liverpool, United Kingdom on May 9-14, 2010. YPCOM will have a table at the Congress, so swing by and meet other YPs once you're settled. We'll have postcards that can be mailed home, all you need is a stamp (saves you a trip to the postcard shop). YP activities being planned for this event include:

• Young Professional Commission session
  Learn more about YP activities in PIANC & how to get more involved plus hear presentations by a couple Young Professionals whose papers were accepted for the Congress (topics to be announced with finalization of Congress programme).
• Young  Professionals' Happy Hour
  Following the YPCOM session, join other YPs at the Congress for a English ale or two at a local pub. Hopefully, this will be a sponsored event.
• YP Awards
  Young Professionals (under age 40) presenting at the Congress have the opportunity to participate in one of three awards - PIANC YP, IADC & CEDA - all of which have a monetary prize (up to €1,000). Your registration and paper submission to the Congress confirms your entrance.

The PIANC USA Young Professionals Representative is planning to attend the Congress, so please let her know if you are too.

PIANC USA Annual Meeting
September 22, 2010

Mark your calendars for the PIANC USA Annual Meeting. This year it will be held in Boston, Massachusetts on September 22, 2010 (in conjunction with the National Waterways Conference 50th Anniversary Meeting, Sept. 23-24, 2010) at the InterContinental Hotel. An exciting day of technical presentations and discussions are on the agenda, as well as networking events. Young Professionals activities include:

• Young Professionals Happy Hour
• Networking with National Waterways Conference attendees

The PIANC USA meeting is open to PIANC members and others interested in attending. More information will be posted on the PIANC USA website soon.
