Meet the Commissioners
Dominic Izzo is a Project Director at KBR in Houston, Texas and in this position he has worked on major energy and petrochemical projects in Australia and the Middle East. A project manager and civil engineer, he has served extensively in the public and private sector. Mr. Izzo was appointed the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) in July 2001 and he served in this position until November 2002. During this period he became the first Chairman of the Estuary Habitat Restoration Council. Mr. Izzo began his career as an Army Engineer officer, serving in various command and staff assignments in Germany. He also taught Fluid Mechanics at West Point before leaving active duty as a lieutenant colonel in 1992. Mr. Izzo has a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from Caltech, where he studied Coastal Engineering, and he is a registered professional engineer in Louisiana and Virginia. Mr. Izzo was responsible for the design, construction and start-up of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal in India. Previously he had also managed the design and construction of an LPG Terminal on the Yangtze River in China and power plants in China and the Philippines. Mr. Izzo is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, in which organization he has served as the Chairman of the Wetland and Sediment Management Committee for the Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute (COPRI), and as a member of both the national Energy, Environment, and Water Policy Committee and the Critical Infrastructure Guidance Committee.
